"Seems fine" might not be good.  Being new to the AVR make sure you
are using 'volatile' correctly, and make use of the atomic_block
macros in atomic.h.  The optimizers is aggressive about reordering
code, which can create race conditions in critical sections. No,
turning the optimizer off is not the solution, always run with -Os.

I expect we'll end up attending some of the same seminars.  TI Day is
always a big get-together in the area in the spring.

Having lived here my whole life I can't comprehend the prices I see
people paying for housing and such.
Here in Oil City you can buy a vintage Victorian Mansion for 10k to
20k.  Normal house in town might go for 5k.

Lots of industrial places available too.  For a while you could have
bought the Franklin Hospital Complex for $1.  You can still buy a full
city block on the main street for a $1.  They've had no takers and are
going to raze it soon.

One of the really hidden gems here is the town of Venus up the road.
Each house has fiber optics.  Lots of people from Washington DC live
there, never saying exactly what they are doing nor for whom.

CMU has a lot to do with that.  I grew up with a girl who just could
not wait to get out of here when she turned 18, to move to the big
city of Pittsburgh where they had "night life" (here that consisted of
laying in the middle of the road watching the starts, between cars
every few hours).  Saw her years later and asked why she was here, to
which she replied "You can take the girl out of the country but can't
take the country out of the girl".
