Being new to the AVR make sure you are using 'volatile' correctly, and make use of the atomic_block macros in atomic.h. The optimizers is aggressive about reordering code, which can create race conditions in critical sections. No, turning the optimizer off is not the solution, always run with -Os. >> Thought you where in Florida?  Your only about 70 miles from me now. > >  Hey, perhaps we can get together! I expect we'll end up attending some of the same seminars. Having lived here my whole life I can't comprehend the prices I see people paying for housing and such. Here in Oil City you can buy a vintage Victorian Mansion for 10k to 20k. Normal house in town might go for 5k. Lots of industrial places available too. For a while you could have bought the Franklin Hospital Complex for $1. You can still buy a full city block on the main street for a $1. They've had no takers and are going to raze it soon. One of the really hidden gems here is the town of Venus up the road. Each house has fiber optics. Lots of people from Washington DC live there, never saying exactly what they are doing nor for whom. > also have my office and lab, and downstairs I'll build a vintage computing > museum in which to show off my goodies.  (older Crays, DEC PDP-8/10/11/14 > machines, some vintage tube analog computers, etc) Look forward to seeing that. Nothing so cool as a blinking LED. :-) >Pittsburgh has a strange reputation that I just don't > understand, but it's possibly the most beautiful city I've ever seen, and > it's a fantastic place for a tech geek to be. CMU has a lot to do with that. I grew up with a girl who just could not wait to get out of here when she turned 18, to move to the big city of Pittsburgh where they had "night life" (here that consisted of laying in the middle of the road watching the starts, between cars every few hours). Saw her years later and asked why she was here, to which she replied "You can take the girl out of the country but can't take the country out of the girl". You can see what the area here look like along the river in the Helmet-CAM shot of the bike trail I just posted, rather boring section of the trail actually: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qPreOwzKzw
