I think what you see is part of the many problems DJGPP programs have
on Windows 2000 or XP, due to quite a few system calls that behave on
Windows 2000 and XP in a way that is different from every other
Windows version.

Try the fixed binaries at this URL:

I would read the info very carefully at this site and setup DJGPP in
another directiory as not all of the binaries have been re-built with
2000 / XP support.
