For those of you who don't know what EFI (Extensible Firmware
Interface) is, it's Intel's solution to the problem of computer
manufacturers having to get updated BIOSes every time they add a new
hardware feature or change something on their motherboard. It's a
somewhat primitive DOS replacement with UNIX-style shell commands and
a generic library hardware interface. For now, EFI can sit on top of
a "legacy" BIOS, and Intel is hoping that someday it'll replace BIOSes
altogether.

For more info, check out http://developer.intel.com/technology/efi/ .

I'm hoping that people here have at least heard of EFI. Is there any
interest in porting DJGPP to EFI? I don't think I'd be up to it,
myself.

Just wondering...
