It's a somewhat primitive DOS replacement with UNIX-style shell commands and a generic library hardware interface. For now, EFI can sit on top of a "legacy" BIOS, and Intel is hoping that someday it'll replace BIOSes altogether. For more info, check out http://developer.intel.com/technology/efi/ . I'm hoping that people here have at least heard of EFI. Is there any interest in porting DJGPP to EFI? I don't think I'd be up to it, myself. Just wondering...
