You are right.
Now I see where the problem is.

I decided to install your binaries under /usr/local because my whole
native compiler is under /usr/local.

Anyway, to avoid more complications, I simply symlinked
/usr/local/i586-pc-msdosdjgpp and
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/i586-pc-msdosdjgpp to /usr...

Maybe this is not the most elegant sulution; but the cross compiler is
working fine now.
