I've written a few simple games using Allegro and a library derived
from WSOCK, and have found no problems, and I know two people who
have used WSOCK and Allegro in making more complicated games (e.g.
http://www.canvaslink.com/bapple2/; this doesn't use WSOCK any more,
it uses a different library, but this library works in exactly the
same way as WSOCK). The Winsock libraries just load and use a VxD,
which is part of Windows; as far as I know, nothing the simpler
Winsock libraries do could clash with anything reasonable that other
libraries might want to do.
