Normally I don't like to participate in these kind of editor discussions
because they can lead to wars, which I find especially bad in a newsgroup,
but since this seems rather sedate I am commenting.

Try VIM, it is VI Improved:

I use it on my DOS box, is compatible with the bash shell that djgpp
provides, as well as gnu-win32 bash.  I just tried to get access to the
DOS version and got a "Page Not Found" from the server supposedly
supporting
it.  You can check out the following url if you are interested in that or
