Shawn,

For short summarie: yes I was about 640*480(8bpp)

I am not planning to stay in that "mess" forever( pardon me saying
that), but since I think the problems with TRIDENT are maybe
one of the most mentioned and horrible(9440 and below), and also
because after getting through enough theory about VxD and windows
pmode I need some practicing that-), and also because I own such a
basterd myself, I might want to cooperate on writing a "better" vesa
compatible driver for trident9440 for both windows and dos. The
trouble is that my knowledge and even comprehension of graphics
hardware( and software for that matter) is below any standards. In
fact I ignored it as much as possible until a few weeks ago(allegro
hit me;-). But if someone with enough graph registers knowledge
and also such a poor trident9440 sucker( one day they were sheapest
in the market I think;-))will cooperate too, we might succeed.
BTW the importance of such a driver is more then only dosgames.
Trident driver for windows normally also screws up!

I wouldn't hold your breath though! And also the most simple way
might be a simple windows program which resets the windows default to
60 mHZ from the win-api.
