I doing the same but have not noted Rhide taking up excessive cpu time.
Under the properties of the dos box you can specify the amount of RAM: the
pulldown box lets you go just to 16Mbyte. However, this is not a limit:
you can type any number by hand (e.g. 32 Mbyte)!
