I attempted to compile a program with -fforce-addr. GCC did a bit of
compiling and then hung. During the hang it periodically accessed the hard
drive so it must have gotten stuck in a rather wide infinite loop. I
discovered that it had hung and wasn't just slow compiling when I noticed
that it had been doing the exact same thing for about 30 minutes running.
When I took -fforce-addr off the command line it compiled fine.
