Subject: error compiling POV-Ray 3.0 w/ djgpp v2

I tried to compile POV-Ray 3.0 using djgpp v2 (which I just downloaded
after seeing that POV-Ray 3.0 would not compile under djgpp v1.42), and
all the .o files were built properly but when they were all to be
linked I got an error something like this (don't remember exact
wording):

pmode.a: error reading symbols: memory exhausted

pmode.a being one of four .a files linked (along with a LOT of .o
files)

the total size of ALL .o and .a files to be linked was only about 1 MB
- I have 16MB (I had NO memory-eaters at compile-time so I had 15MB
available EMS/XMS, about 580k conventional), and nearly 20MB hard-drive
space free

If anyone has any idea what could cause this problem and how to correct
it I'd be greatly appreciative.

BTW- I'm using cwsdpmi.exe as the DPMI host and have emm386.exe (w/
MS-DOS 6.20) with the RAM option as the memory manager.

If the error is truly a lack of memory I guess I'm just out of luck.

Thanks.
