Message-ID: <321DD5ED.1067@library.gatech.edu> Date: Fri, 23 Aug 1996 12:01:49 -0400 From: GTEL Cluster Organization: Georgia Tech Library MIME-Version: 1.0 To: djgpp AT delorie DOT com Subject: error compiling POV-Ray 3.0 w/ djgpp v2 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I tried to compile POV-Ray 3.0 using djgpp v2 (which I just downloaded after seeing that POV-Ray 3.0 would not compile under djgpp v1.42), and all the .o files were built properly but when they were all to be linked I got an error something like this (don't remember exact wording): pmode.a: error reading symbols: memory exhausted pmode.a being one of four .a files linked (along with a LOT of .o files) the total size of ALL .o and .a files to be linked was only about 1 MB - I have 16MB (I had NO memory-eaters at compile-time so I had 15MB available EMS/XMS, about 580k conventional), and nearly 20MB hard-drive space free If anyone has any idea what could cause this problem and how to correct it I'd be greatly appreciative. BTW- I'm using cwsdpmi.exe as the DPMI host and have emm386.exe (w/ MS-DOS 6.20) with the RAM option as the memory manager. If the error is truly a lack of memory I guess I'm just out of luck.
