Today I converted a 2.3 MB text file from DOS to UNIX format with
dtou, having less than 0.5 MB disk space free on my HDD. Somehow this
file got corrupted: it contained a large part of the beginning, and a
few pages of the end. I did not look into it any more. I'd think that
perhaps the last pages are written by smartdrv (which I had loaded). I
have 8 MB RAM, and smartdrv used 1 MB.

It would be understandable if dtou failed to write the file, but since
it gives no warning and *overwrites* the original with the corrupted
file, I was in trouble.

Alex.
