Go to http://www.informatik.tu-muenchen.de/\
cgi-bin/nph-gateway/hphalle8/~breitlip/djgpp.html
to find the 2.10 version.

I tried using sb05 (i had to save all of my .xm as .mod). It is faster
(a little) than mikmod 2.10, but it was difficult to produce decent sound
on it. I have a SB 16 (not a clone) and a Media Vision card (SB Pro
clone). Even with changing mixing rates and other things, the sound was
very "tinny". Also, 2.10 works with windows 95 a lot better than 2.09b(d).

Another advantage I see is that mikmod supports more than just the SB.

I am working on a "Killer Instinct meets Virtua Fighter" style of game.
Lots of stuff happens on the screen in order to look really cool. So
far I have not had a problem with it.
