I did some work to see if I could get RCS to ci/co binary files. It
appears to be broken and irreparable. I'm suspicious of DIFF because
I had this working with the version of DIFF that I compiled.
Unfortunately, I haven't got an old copy of the source. It appears
that DIFF does not respond the way it used to with the switch
combination

  diff -an --binary - /tmp/D1aaaa

where the diff is taken of the standard input and the temporary file.
I played with the switches to see if I could coerce it to behave.
When I dropped the 'a', diff displays a boolean message whether or not
there are differences. RCS expects to see differences.

So, Eli, did something change in the DIFF source?

Marc
