The better solution is to 1. reduce the program to the smallest reproducible
portion that will produce the error and 2. show us the full command line you're
using to reproduce this problem.

There are a few peculiarities on various systems in attempting to instantiate
template classes under some circumstances, but these show up at link time, not
compile time.  (You can use `info' for DJGPP to get information on how to do
this.)

One difficulty is that the draft standard for C++ is 1. not a full standard yet,
obviously, and 2. compilers haven't quite had a chance to catch up yet.  This
means that something which may work on one compiler may not work on another, due
to either lax syntax checking on a compiler's part or allowing you to get away
with more than you should on the other's.
