oh comeon, you can't guess your acronyms? ;) [sorry although i did kind of
imply what it was, i realise it wasn't very explicit, of course if you don't
know what it is then you haven't ported it, but that's a different story]

beav is "Binary Editor and Viewer".  it is pretty powerful and runs nicely on
most unix platforms.  it also uses mostly Emacs key bindings, for those that
like emacs [i prefer vi, but let's not go down that road...:)]  only problem is
that the MSDOS compilation is limited to msdos 640k limit.  i figured a
recompile under djgpp would be the obvious next step to make it usable on
larger files.  of course not reading the whole file in might be the next step,
but . . .

i don't think there's been a new release in a long time and it seems like it's
really difficult to get a hold of for some reason [had to search some really
weird places i think using veronica, i think archie came up empty].

if anyone wants a copy [assuming that no one's ported it] i can make it
available.
