What's BEAV? oh comeon, you can't guess your acronyms? ;) [sorry although i did kind of imply what it was, i realise it wasn't very explicit, of course if you don't know what it is then you haven't ported it, but that's a different story] beav is "Binary Editor and Viewer". it is pretty powerful and runs nicely on most unix platforms. it also uses mostly Emacs key bindings, for those that like emacs [i prefer vi, but let's not go down that road...:)] only problem is that the MSDOS compilation is limited to msdos 640k limit. i figured a recompile under djgpp would be the obvious next step to make it usable on larger files. of course not reading the whole file in might be the next step, but . . . i don't think there's been a new release in a long time and it seems like it's really difficult to get a hold of for some reason [had to search some really weird places i think using veronica, i think archie came up empty]. if anyone wants a copy [assuming that no one's ported it] i can make it available. bob(tm) -- Robert Hollinger <-------------------------------------> 4B Chaucer Ln. > \ www- http://www.xnet.com/~bob / < Disclaimer: Streamwood, IL 60107 > \/\/ bob AT xnet DOT com \/\/ < 708-483-9391 <------------------------------------->I don't know her!
