A simpler procedure which I had used more than once is to
only send the last message, i.e. to subscribe.  It seems
this won't do any harm (it didn't in my case).  Maybe the
list server is smart enough to not subscribe you more than
once.  I even wrote to the person who is in charge of the
server and he confirmed these involuntary un-subscribtions
happen, and told me ``when in doubt, re-subscribe yourself''.
