Well, I just tried again and found some further results.  When I have
qdpmi commented out in my config.sys file, info seems to be working
fine.  When I reenable qdpmi, the info program goes to hell and I also
get numerous problems with "running out of DPMI or irtual memory" while
using the standalone makeinfo and compiler programs; I also get it with
the newly compiled GNU Emacs (19.25)

Again, I wonder seriously about qdpmi and the djgpp stuff.  Can anyone
help? I posted a message recently which also contained the config.sys
and autoexec.bat that I use.
