FWIW, DesqView/X has Adobe Type 1 and Berkeley sockets built in.
Adobe works fine. It is possible to use Adobe fonts instead of what
the program asks for according to the DV/X manual. I haven't had a
use for it, so I don't know how to do it. select() works fine.
Unfortunately, at the moment using a socket as if it were a file does
not (according to David Ronis, who knows a lot more about it than I
do).
DJGPP definitely can be used to build DV/X apps. I've done it,
Ronis has done it, and Peter Crowley of QuarterDeck has done it a lot.
