Ahh, the symptoms are clear. You used netscape to download the file and
netscape corrupts files. Solution: do not use netscape. You may use lynx
or konqueror or something... my favorite is wget.

(Technically, netscape uncompresses gzip files without any notification to
user nor changing the file name, but from user's point of view this is
same as corrupting the file)
