gcc version pgcc-2.95.3 19991024 (AthlonGCC-0.0.2)      that's what i use and i compiled the kernel, X, itself, freeamp,
alsa, lsensors, xine, mplayer, aviplay  and countless other apps without any problems .     that's about all i can help
you with ..  maybe try upgrading your athlon gcc.  maybe give me the source and the compile cmd needed and i'll see if it
screws up on my system.
