Subject: Branch probabilities

Why does branch probabilities never quite work??

I have in the past tried to use this function (Yes, I read the docs to
find out how to use it), and if I turn on optimizations then I get a
message about arc counts being bad, and .da file contentes not
exhausted. If I turn them off, then once again I get a message about arc
counts being bad, but now it complains that .da file contents exhausted
too early.

Is branch probabilities actually supposed to work, or is it too highly
experimental?

Rather long, you may wish to not read:

I realize that this should and or could go on the egcs list, but I am
not subscribed, and do not know where it is. And more importantly than
that, I already get over 100 messages a day from the DJGPP list, and the
Allegro list, and the AGP list. Then I'm on the PGCC list and the RHIDE
list. needless to say, it doesn't take too long to make my mailbox start
to overflow [I have a 5MB limit, and in about 3 to 4 days I'm at about
50% of that limit]. Considered an additional account to handle all the
mail, but that won't work because Netscape only allows 1 POP mail
account at a time.
