I don`t understand this, gcc not ld should be used ? I see I know very little
about gcc...

I got gimp-0.99.18 yesterday and this seems to be fixed.I`ll check if updating
the libtools will fix this in the other packages.
Also the -O2 flag has been removed from the configure. And here is the next
question: If -O2 remains in configure
and I run it the proposed way : CC="gcc -O6 ..." ... compiling goes this way:
gcc -O6 .... -O2 ...
Which optimization is used ? (Has -O6 been overwritten by the -O2?)
