No, that's not really off topic since I have a project with circuitry like you want, and with plans to do
well calibrated feedback controlled HV from python programs...

It's made using gschem, pcb-rnd (evolved from pcb), and volt doubler part simulated with gnucap.

The custom push pull transformer I designed will be
available for about $2 each in small quantities.  Kits to assemble a "High voltage playground for engineers and hobbyists",
will be available in a couple of months.

It's aimed at a biologist task called electroporation, but besides that, it's a computer drive HV DAC and low speed ADC
