Useful if it currently includes something that you use often, perhaps.
For me that's not the case.

Also the way it currently operates, sometimes opening the sidebar
appears to zoom the page, othertimes it overlaps the thing you're
working on.
That needs some consistency and probably a way for the user to choose
what behaviour they like best.
I may not have noticed the zoom, but it can cause the grid to re-scale
which is very noticeable.
