Seconded. However some default single key PCB hotkeys are really cumbersome
to use on some keyboard layout.
For example the thin draw "|" hotkey on a Spanish keyboard is AltGR-1 where
the AltGR is a modified found at the right side of the spacebar while the
digit 1 is at the usual place.
This requires a hand which extends more than an octave on a standard piano
(or using both hands but means moving the mouse hand to the keyboard and
back).
And it would be worse for a left-handed person, having to push the thumb
up to the digit row while keeping the pinky on the modifier.
In general using special characters, i.e., anything else than letters
and numbers, for hotkeys is a very bad idea. And even for numbers, you
should be aware that they are not directly accessible on French
keyboard, but need a Shift modifier.
On a Spanish keyboad, the "[" and "]" gschem hotkeys are not too difficult
to type but need a weird movement where the thumb has to go under the palm
to press the AltGR key while the index goes to another key somehere
between the "P" and the "Return" keys.
