Maybe lesstif is dong something different here.  For me B does indeed
behave as you say and flip around the clicked or hovered point.  But
it doesn't work on multiple elements at all.  Shift-B doesn't care
where you click, only what's selected and it always seems to rotate
around the board center line.  Not the case for you?
