bullshit

To have the new stable KiCad under the "cutting edge" - almost two years
old 14.04 LTS - you just have to install 1 library: wxwidgets-3.0.2
easily found as a deb or just install the dependencies from the ppa:

http://kicad-pcb.org/download/ubuntu/

if you want to have python script working you need just another one:
wxpython3.0 and that's all (also found on the aforementioned ppa).

If you just want it installed, install the ppa and you're done.

If you want to compile the very last dev kicad you just need another lib:
 GLM
no need to compile it, just download and install from http://glm.g-truc.net/

I know a joke about UDP, but you might not get it.
