IMHO this is bad idea: it's too unclear in using macros instead of
exact letters at your fngertips.  Maybe considering text inside string
"ABCD ..." as a raw UTF-8 stream would be more agile and easier to
code?

Anyway, I can test cyrillic support in Linux (and Windows too) if you
implement it.
