Positioning groups close to others, or with a good balance to how much space is left on a page would become easier than box selecting. Here's another idea for a "select all interconnected" function: Have it work in a radius. Have that radius be defined in a pull down menu. Have it be modifiable to add to the selected set also, as in <shift> "select all interconnected". Then you could do one or two selections of connected AND within-a-radius and get a circuit area you want without any worry over a couple of nets going on connected to more and more circuitry. The combination of "select all interconnected" with a radius would mean the radius could be fairly wide and left the same for a user preference and just one mouse click would get what you want most of the time, if not, two.
