Would you be happy with same solution but fonts stored internally instead?

It is not visibly important fonts look different but distances may be wrong. I guess it would be a good idea to convert font to the same kind of simple drawing primitives used for the other parts. In such case font graphics be accessed the same way as other drawing primitives for example for the design rule checks.
