Why not? They are two separate tools, of wildly different internal design. They are not “parallel versions” at all. They are only superficially the same thing.

That seems much harder to me. Remember that gnetlist’s Scheme API is not what you’re so fluent with in gschem.

Let me state that I consider it essential that gnetlist continue to remain backward-compatible, and that means supporting a lot of peculiarities. I’m not the only user out here with customized Scheme. But that means that xorn-gnetlist can be free to do things better by its own standards.
