1. Should be first choice and others should only be chosen if there is a really good reason (2.) is not a good enough reason by itself.
2. Keep traditional then there are no conflicts.
3. To use same key binding whenever appropriate in pcb and gschem is probably a very good idea.

In my opinion single keystrokes accessible with the left hand is very handy then using the mouse.
