It seems to be of great use then implementing the list. In an UML diagram there usually are a list of functions for manipulating the objects which is very useful then using the list. I still guess it would rather useful with functions for finding objects by attribute values, it could be Refdes, footprint, ... and I guess this is what he ask for.
