For layout and board outlines it is ok. I would not try it for
footprints. My workflow for this was

orcad -> gerber files -> gerbv -> postscript (ps) -> pstoedit -> pcb
I put it on a layer and then traced some needed features into the
layer I actually wanted.
If I had it to do over again I would probably have tried the tools for
converting orcad but I just needed a few simple features.
