I also agree with John. For all the reasons he and Igor2 mentioned.

Users should have a choice between
1. kicad, a GUI centric integrated tool that has limited workflows but
intuitive control
2. geda, a suite of tools where the user decides basically everything
and hence has to understand more of what they are doing.

We have the user base we do because we are catering to that audience.
Why alienate our users and put ourselves in a kind of competition with
kicad. We are better off being great out our niche than trying to
dethrone them from theirs.

I believe that what holds back geda is not architecture issues but
community ones.
