Way too much generalisation. Sure, if you add these "expert" options, which add yet more options to choose from, burden raises.

Well thought features lower the burden. Such a "click here to get a basic PCB setup" is a good example, because as soon as this button is there, some 50% of the users no longer have to learn/remember on how to do this the manual way. The computer/application knows it already, remembers it for them.

Tools which offer preselections: when choosing a footprint for a 4 pin symbol it's pointless to put footprints with 2 or 3 pinholes into the chooseable list. Shortening the list is a feature and clearly reduces cognitive burden.

BTW., right now we have no list at all, the user has to type it and waste his precious brain to remember the name. Precisely, occupying even more brain, because KK100 and KK 100 and KK_100 are three different things.
