Alliance VLSI is a tool which lives up to the one tool does one thing and
is a PITA to use without defining a Makefile.
There is a new tool in their family using a backend database instead of the
various netlist files which Alliance had to struggle with.

http://soc-extras.lip6.fr/en/coriolis/hurricane-doc/
=E2=80=8B
Just in case somebody wants to look at how a sibling type app to geda solve
a problem. Back-annotation is almost a must in VLSI as well as hierarchy,
but I guess John Doty will correct me if I am wrong here.

I haven't played around with coriolis as I am out of VLSI for the moment.
