I've created a patch to add a hackvana option to output naming conventions.
It's not quite as neat as I would like, as I wasn't able to get my head
around modifying the body of the filename as well as just the extension.

Is the correct way to get this included attaching the patch to a bug report
on launchpad? It's not really a bug as such, but I'm not sure where to
submit feature requests...
