  I'm testing your nc.sym and gnd.sym.

$ locate /nc.sym
/var/home/karl/Net/cvs/cvs.gedasymbols.org/www/user/kai_martin_knaak/essential/symbols/power/nc.sym
/var/home/karl/Net/cvs/cvs.gedasymbols.org/www/user/kai_martin_knaak/symbols/power/nc.sym
$ locate /gnd.sym
/var/home/karl/Net/cvs/cvs.gedasymbols.org/www/user/kai_martin_knaak/essential/symbols/power/gnd.sym
/var/home/karl/Net/cvs/cvs.gedasymbols.org/www/user/kai_martin_knaak/symbols/power/gnd.sym
$

  Running gsch2pcb on:

$ cat nc.sch
v 20110619 2
C 16600 65100 1 0 0 nc.sym
{
T 16700 66600 5 8 0 0 0 0 1
value=NoConnection
T 16700 67400 5 8 0 0 0 0 1
device=DRC_Directive
T 16700 66200 5 8 0 0 0 0 1
symversion=1.0
T 16700 66400 5 8 0 0 0 0 1
footprint=none
}
$ gsch2pcb nc.sch
WARNING: U? has a footprint attribute "none" so won't be in the layout.
No elements found, so nothing to do.
$

  but:

$ cat gnd.sch
v 20110619 2
C 40000 66100 1 0 0 gnd.sym
{
T 40100 67500 5 8 0 0 0 0 1
symversion=1.0
T 40100 67700 5 8 0 0 0 0 1
footprint=none
}
$ gsch2pcb gnd.sch
No elements found, so nothing to do.
$

  Why does gsch2pcb complain about nc.sym?

Regards,
/Karl Hammar
