One workaround that you can use is this:

1. Break buffer elements to pieces
2. Mirror buffer (it will work now that the buffer contains no elements)
3. Convert buffer to element
4. Save buffer elements to file

Do be careful, though, as "break elements into pieces" does lose some
information - for instance square pads become round.
Check the resulting element carefully, I suggest comparing it with the
original element by viewing both in a text editor.
