Thank you for your thorough investigation! This would have been quite
an adventure to track down without your help.

This weekend is very busy for me, and I likely won't get a chance
to work on this bug until Wednesday or Thursday. Perhaps another
developer would like to take a look at it. The solution is probably
to add a flag to the %mi specifier to force it to output a '.'.
