I find the archive very useful.  It's good for searching for old
posts that I don't have in my local list folder, and especially it
is good to be able to post a link to a past discussion.  Lots of
topics keep coming up, and it saves a lot of duplicated effort to
be able to quickly point people toward a past discussion with a
gmane link.
