Thanks so much!
That user interface isn't easy to figure out. Initially, it was hard to
see what was happening because the the 'activated' buttons don't look much
different from the inactive ones so trying to fix it, I wasn't even fully
sure the buttons/UI were working.

This is on Fedora 28 BTW. Clicking '02' next to 'bottom' (2nd row) and
clicking '02' on 'bottom side' near the bottom appears to have fixed my
issue. Searching around, I haven't found much documentation on how
layers/groups work, or how best to set them initially (it's always just
worked up till now, but putting something on the 'far side' appears to
have triggered something. What I've found makes sense now that I
understand what's going on.
