Hmm... Why not use a blacklist in stead of a whitelist?

Then if somebody says SOME_DPMI_SERVER doesn't work, you add that one
to the blacklist?

And what about the ones that aren't released yet that almost nobody
knows about? (I have one. Unfortunately stalled since several years.)

And those that doesn't exists at all yet (likely not many of those).
