FWIW, I'm using 2.03p2 on XP without any problems, and I have yet to
see a detailed description of XP-related problems in v2.03p2 that 2.04
solves.

So I suggest that the OP installs 2.03 first, since it's much more
stable and tested, and only if there are problems for which it is
known that 2.04 has the solution, upgrades to that.
