Yup...  You tried to execute a floating point instruction on a cpu which
doesn't support ESC sequences.  IIRC, you need a DX series 486 or an SX
series 486 *and* a 487 SX coprocessor.  Odd, I also seem to recall the 386
was the last series with an optionally separate FPU...  Anyway, another
option is software emulation.

Perhaps, FAQ 11.1 "11.1 Floating-point code without 80387" would help?
I.e., it first suggests adding -lemu to your link flags and optionally
setting some DOS environment variables (see putenv()).  Then, it suggests
some software emulators.
